An afternoon of fun and adventure at the Virginia Safari Park and Natural Bridge October 7, 2010

Our October 2 Saturday afternoon trip was originally scheduled for the Natural Bridge only and its surrounding attractions – Indian village, caverns, wax museum. But Moms E wanted to try out the Safari Park first as her curiousity was piqued by my friend Allison’s FB post about her having a great time at the Safari.

So of we went to the Safari Park. I’m so glad we didn’t go to the Naturil Bridge Zoo and opted for the Safari instead. If they were thinking that I’d fall for their ad: “Get your picture taken with a baby tiger!”. Nuh-uh. No pictures with baby tigers!

Going out that Saturday was also exciting because I get to take more pictures again and apply what I have learned from the online tutorials on photography I’ve been reading about in the internet.

The beastly Wildebeests

Double-humped camels.

A troop of kangaroos.

The colors of fall at dusk.

She is my dear Coraline deer.

An Ostrich and a very brave kid's arm holding out a bucket of foodies.

Zebras. Do you think they like listening to the White Stripes?

Giraffe. This is a baby giraffe. Imagine what an adult giraffe would be like!

Watusis - The Park mgt. specifically instructed us to not feed, pet nor touch them. You know Elaine and I are obedient.

We still had time to visit the Natural Bridge but the nearby attractions were already close. I would have wanted to go to the Indian village. Just a tip if you’re planning to visit the Bridge and the other attractions: It is recommended that you buy your tickets online. It’s cheaper and they have combo tickets for the attractions. You should also go there earlier if you’re planning to visit the Safari Park too.

Roots, sturdy, roots

Going on a Safari adventure makes you tired and hungry. On our way to the Natural Bridge, a pink Cadillac caught an attention and found out that it’s a display for a place called Pink Cadillac Diner. Talk about seeing the right card at the right time! The diner reminded me of a local diner in the Philippines called Biggs with their antique decor and Elvis Presley posters. It was a good chow!

A life-sized bear. See the height difference? Sorry, camera shake.

Elaine wanted to show this picture to Dale as they remind her of Dale's poker buddies - Betty and Veronica

Next time you’re headed to Virginia, don’t forget to visit the Safari Park and Natural Bridge!
