I have never really tried (aka gave an effort into) cooking.
At home (in the Philippines), the kitchen is Mom’s turf. The househelp can cook some meals but only if she is good at it. Not that Mom is a super cook. It’s just the way it is. Plus, the old man won’t eat foods (or show enthusiasm and/or concern) cooked by others, especially me. So when I tried making tacos, burgers and hotdogs on waffles and he showed approval, I was in Ligao heaven. hahaha.
*Note: People at home really don’t like the sweet adobo. So I try ditching the sugar when cooking it.
Here in my new home (Virginia), my husband is the better cook – no fuss, no debate – he is. In his parent’s home, his father is the better cook – no fuss, no debate from Elaine. So add some competition in the air, I have been trying to cook Pinoy dishes here. Plus the fact that I miss eating Pinoy meals pushes me to try my luck in cooking.
So far, so good kids!
